Yorkshire Food in a Challenging World: Conference - 06 October 2009

The past year has been tough for all companies as a result of the recession which began almost two years ago. Although the food sector has been traditionally resilient to economic downturns, a “cost price squeeze” has made life very challenging to say the least. This “cost price squeeze” is a result of rising input and raw material costs combined with retailers desire to reduce prices in order to be able to deliver “value” to their consumers. To survive this two-way challenge, food businesses need to find new innovative ways to reduce costs and add value.

This Farexchange Conference gave practical solutions to improve efficiency and help businesses not only survive these difficult times and make the most of future opportunities. Top level industry speakers gave presentatins on how they are facing up to the current challenges which were followed by interactive workshops which gave practical solutions for attendees to take away.
